More London Free Festival
The More London Free Festival returns with a bang this summer at the riverside outdoor sunken amphitheatre, The Scoop. The 800 capacity venue will once again host a fun-filled and free fringe, music, theatre and film performance programme taking place from the 1 June to the 31 July 2013. In 2012, the festival paid homage to the Olympics with special Olympic walking routes, and included showings of the 60s classic, West Side Story, as well as the recent Hollywood release, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starring Dev Patel and Dame Judi Dench. Providing a wonderful way to spend your afternoons and evenings without breaking the bank, this year offers more free entry film screenings and an extended number of musical interludes. Performance times will once again vary throughout and will be confirmed closer to the event. Attracting many Londoners and tourists alike, The Scoop offers a perfect outdoor space to enjoy some live entertainment, as well as take in many sights within the surroundings of nearby Tower Bridge. The performance area is also located just underneath the City Hall building, which was opened in 2002. The festival was launched shortly after this and has been running ever since. City Hall is often nicknamed the misshaped egg or the motorcycle helmet due to its bulbous shape. It is also the headquarters of the Greater London Authority and the current London Mayor, Boris Johnson.
Less than 6 minutes’ walk away, the nearest tube station to the event is London Bridge. Those travelling from out of the city will find our London hotel deals for the Apex City of London Hotel and alternative nearby hotels useful.
