The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre
Leave your delicate disposition at the door – as this critically acclaimed new show is not for the faint of heart. Guaranteed to cause offence, The Book of Mormon is brought to you by the veritable pharaohs of offence, Trey Parker and Matt Stone (the creators of cult comedy cartoon, South Park). Bringing a touch of class to the affair, the South Park writers co-created the music with one of the composers/writers of West End stalwart Avenue Q.
The show cites ‘organised religion’ and ‘traditional music theatre’ as its victims of satire, sending up religion and musicals.
The musical tells the story of a couple of erstwhile Mormon missionaries, dispatched to a remote village in northern Uganda, to spread their teachings. These dewy eyed optimists attempt to share the Book of Mormon (a scripture) with the local people.
The Book of Mormon spent nearly seven years in development, opening on Broadway back early in 2011, to an overwhelmingly glowing critical response. The shows has since scooped nine Tony Awards and even a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
The show has now hit London, playing at the Prince of Wales Theatre on Coventry Street – and has proved to be a hit with theatre goers. With tickets selling fast, book your show and accommodation before it’s too late!
