Nightlife in Rome: clubs, bars and music venues
There are plenty of bars in Rome, catering to all tastes, whether you’re looking for a trendy wine bar, a pub or a traditional Italian bar. Possibly Italy’s coolest bar, Ice Club is, as its name suggests, built from ice. Visitors can drink vodka-based cocktails from ice glasses while sat on soft furs in the -5C interior. Elsewhere, Cioccolata e Vino is a fun little place that’s worth seeking out in Vicolo del Cinque. It has a great menu of shots of dessert liqueurs that are served in a chocolate shot glass, topped with whipped cream.
Music venues in Rome include Sinister Noise Club, an underground club that hosts live performances from emerging international and local bands. There’s everything from indie to rock to folk to soul to DJ sets. There’s also a great bar upstairs on the ground floor.
If jazz is your thing, head to Casa del Jazz in Viale di Porta Ardeatina, a venue that opened less than ten years ago in the confiscated former villa of a mafia boss. You can enjoy live performances of every genre of jazz, while during summer there are also outdoor gigs. Gregory’s, in Via Gregoriana, is another good options for live jazz.
Nightclubs in Rome include the 700-capacity Goa, in Via Libetta, which hosts Italian and international DJs. Over the years it has welcomed the likes of Gilles Peterson, the Gotan Project, Sven Väth and Paul Ritch. Another highly rated club in Rome is Neo Club Roma, in Via degli Argonauti, which offers DJs, live music and great cocktails over two floors.
