Travel to Wanaka, on the South Island, where you will be amazed by the sight of the glistening lake and the serenity of the town. For a memorable activity take the Siberia Experience which begins with a scenic flight over Mount Aspiring, then takes travellers to Siberia Valley for a hike through meadows and beech forest to the Wilkin River Valley, where a jet boat takes passengers back to where they started. Be sure to also visit Rippon Vineyard on Mount Aspiring Road, which is home to some wonderful wines available in New Zealand.
Right next door to Wanaka but with a totally different vibe is Queenstown. Often considered the prime place for adrenaline junkies it has everything for the traveller who loves pursuits such as bungee-jumping, white-water rafting, paragliding and has some fabulous eateries and nightlife also.
The Coromandel Peninsula, east of Auckland, is full of activities and home to a number of artists and craftspeople containing stunning valleys and rugged forests. Visit the fabulous Bay of Plenty and the unspoilt beaches of Gisborne where you can swim, fish or surf. Another great place with a perfect beach and known as the surfing capital of the world is Whangamata, which is a lovely town filled with friendly people and fabulous seafood.
Kaikoura on the South Island is a place full of marine life where visitors get to see some wonderful things including whales, dolphins and seabirds. You can view all these things either by boat or helicopter and if the latter then you can also take in some fabulous mountain views.
New Zealand is definitely the place to try some tasty wine and if you’re a fan of the drink then head to the Marlborough region on the South Island which is the country’s hub of wine production. Go to Blenheim where you can go on one of the famous biking and winery experiences where you get to pedal around some very beautiful countryside to vineyards where you can sample some of the country’s best wines.
