Beyonce to take over the O2 Arena
Since the O2 Arena arrived in London in 2007, its financial clout and big name sponsors have meant that it can now attract most of the biggest musical acts ahead of Wembley Arena when they embark on their UK tours. And next year looks set to be no different. Not only will the new year be brought in by the biggest parties around in the shape of The Prodigy, but the gig schedule looks like a who’s who of the most celebrated acts of recent years.
Once February 2014 arrives, though, the arena will play host to the latest residency by a woman who has surely overtaken Madonna in recent years to acquire the title of the queen of pop. Between February 28th and March 4th, Beyonce will take to the stage at the arena to perform four gigs that will no doubt have fans from all over the country encapsulated.
It is a demonstration of the former Destiny’s Child singer’s popularity that she can command a quartet of shows at the O2 so soon after her last stint in the UK. Her Mrs Carter World Tour has been one of the most extensive taken on by any artist in recent years, proving that she is also one of the most hard-working stars on the planet.
She has performed an astounding 123 shows on four different continents in 2013 as part of the tour, but with demand still huge, has announced that she will hit the road again to wow fans throughout next year. The Mrs Carter World Tour was named as such in reference to her marriage to hip-hop giant and music industry mogul Jay-Z. Widely recognised as one of the most famous celebrity couples on the planet, Beyonce demonstrated she is still not too busy to have a personal life when she gave birth to her first child Blue Ivy Carter in 2012.
Even more amazing was that it had transpired the singer had performed a headline set at Glastonbury Festival to an approximate crowd of 120,000 while pregnant. This kind of dedication and drive is why Beyonce has become known as one of the finest live acts on the planet and the shows at the O2 Arena are sure to nothing but enhance this reputation.Any fans planning to travel to the gigs from outside the capital will find the O2 can be accessed from London hotels via the Tube.
