Carowinds Amusement Park
As amusement parks go Carowinds, described as the US’s thrill capital of the east, is pretty much up there with the best.
Located next to Interstate 77 it straddles the border between North Carolina and South Carolina and was opened by businessman Earl Patterson Hall, who was inspired to build the park after a 1956 trip to Disneyland and to fulfil his dream of bringing the two states closer together.
It has several sections to the park with a dozen different activities to keep the whole family active during their visit.
The rides and attractions cover all ages ranges and include 13 rollercoasters with ride Vortex, which is a stand-up rollercoaster filled with loops running at 50 miles an hour and the Carolina Goldrusher, where you are taken on an adventure in a wooden mine train ride.
Visit Boomerang Bay where you can indulge in a 34,000 square foot wave pool, 1,000 foot long lazy river, 11 breath-taking water slides and three interactive family activity areas.
Carowinds also provides visitors with a range of entertainment including walking the plank in Charlie Brown’s Pirate Adventure. Look out for the other famous friends of Charlie Brown around the park including Snoopy.
For fans of prehistoric animals and definitely one for the children in your family is the Dinosaurs Alive! attraction.
This popular site features nearly 30 animatronic dinosaurs in a stunning outdoor forest setting and park visitors will truly be able to step back in time to periods there they can learn but also experience the sheer size of these incredible creatures.
For those adult thrill seekers looking to get scared go to the theme park when it transforms every weekend on Friday and Saturday nights until midnight in Scarowinds.
The theme park is filled with mazes and gruesome creatures with rides, scare zones and shows that mean it is guaranteed to be a spook-tacular event.
Carowinds has everything a theme park should contain with fun-filled rides, entertainment and character that all the family can go to and find something entertaining for everyone.
