Arsenal’s 2013-14 Fixtures: Gunners Face Aston Villa at the Emirates on Opening Day
Arsenal will be looking to improve on last season’s fourth-place finish in the Barclays Premier League. Arsene Wenger’s side have not won the league title since 2004 and are without a major trophy since 2005, when they won the FA Cup against Manchester United.
Whether they will succeed in lifting any silverware this season could well depend on them landing a big summer signing. Arsenal have offloaded a number of players over the summer including Gervinho, Denilson and Andrey Arshavin, but have so far not made a major signing, although the Gunners have been linked to Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.
Arsenal open their campaign at home to Aston Villa on Saturday, August 17 at 3pm. The 60,000-capacity Emirates Stadium, in the Highbury area of north London, offers a wide range of seating options with tickets available to non-members, while views are good from seats all around the ground. The stadium is easy to get to with a number of nearby stations being served by the Piccadilly Line, Victoria Line, London Overground and National Rail, and there are many bus routes close to the ground.
Hotels near the Emirates Stadium include the 3-star Best Western London Highbury and the Comfort Inn St Pancras Kings Cross. Four-star hotels near the Emirates Stadium include Holiday Inn London Camden Lock and Megaro Hotel (located near Kings Cross St Pancras station).
Arsenal’s second game of the season is away at Fulham on Saturday, August 24, 12.45pm. Hotels near Fulham’s stadium, Craven Cottage, include the Best Western Plus Seraphine Hotel, in Hammersmith and The Lodge Hotel, in Putney.
