Hotel of the Month
Two-day cycling festival, RideLondon, hits the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on the weekend of August 3. The park will just have opened to the public and this marks one of the first events it hosts. As the largest mass-participation celebration of cycling in the city, 70,000 beginner and advanced cyclists ride through an eight-mile traffic-free loop on Saturday. Sunday sees the festival come to a close with the mile race for amateurs RideLondon 100, a series of criterium-inspired races for professional women and junior riders RideLondon Grand Prix, and the largest men’s professional race RideLondon Classic.
The 100 and Classic races will pass through all eight London boroughs and rather like the London 2012 Olympics, will finish at The Mall. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is due to open on July 27 and was developed from what was the former Olympic Park. It stretches across 250 acres of outdoor space and 6.5 km of waterways. The opening is planned out in two parts, and whilst the North Park opens in July, the remaining sections of the 560 acre park is not yet completed until spring 2014.
Within 12 minutes walk of the park, the closest tube station is Stratford. Those travelling into the capital for the festival hoping to find a nearby place to stay, can check out our London hotel deals for the Town Hall Hotel and Apartments.
