The Best Easter Events in London
From Easter egg hunts, to Easter-themed parties and fun fairs, London offers an endless variety of exciting Easter weekend events to enjoy with friends and family. We take a look at a variation of the best standout happenings for those who are in and around the capital during this magical time.
The Big Egg Hunt
The Big Egg Hunt allows kids and adults alike to embark on a mission of tracking down all 101 giant eggs carefully placed across town, making it an ideal way to explore what the city has to offer. Each egg is specially designed by a world leading artist and those who find Humpty Dumpty (the most famous egg of all) will find themselves in with a chance of winning a year’s supply of delicious Lindt chocolates. The hunt lasts until Monday April 1 and Participants are required to begin their hunt from Covent Garden, as ‘Eggsperts’ are on hand and onsite with guidebooks and tips for the special journey. Entry fee is £2 / 25p per extra egg and all profit goes to brilliant children’s charity, Action for Children.
Remember to pack your roller skates for this fun-filled ‘eggstravaganza’, which sees a swarm of skaters, donning their best bunny rabbit costumes, and gliding through Hyde Park’s beautiful grounds. EasterSkate 2013 takes place from Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April and includes daily programs jam packed with a host of evening skates, fancy dress gatherings, skating lessons from experts, a midnight Easter bunny party and egg and spoon races. There are also sessions relevant for beginner, intermediate or advanced skaters and entry is free.
Easter Film Hop
The first ever Easter Film Hop sees Leonard Street Car Park in Shoreditch transformed into an Easter bank holiday leisure zone complete with an outdoor cinema screen, bar and silent disco. Visitors can also rummage through the dressing up box, which consists of some wonderfully whacky 70s and 80s inspired costumes. Friday 29 March includes a Grease movie night, followed by a screening of Dirty Dancing on Saturday 30 March and finally cult classic Purple Rain on Sunday 31 March. Tickets are £15 per screening and doors are open from 4pm to 10pm.
Thank Funk It’s Friday Easter Party at Funky Buddha
Mayfair’s popular celebrity hotspot, Funky Buddha, celebrates the bank holiday with its very own Thank Funk It’s Friday Easter Party on the 29 March. On the night, revelers can expect a fantastic compilation of Funky House, Electro and RnB. Funky Buddha are no strangers to holding extravagant Easter egg hunts for grown-ups and those partying it up should be prepared for any unexpected surprises that may be attached to the theme. To top it all off, the first 50 lucky ladies enter free before 11pm.
Hampton Court Easter Fun Fair
The Easter Bank Holiday Fun Fair in Hampton Court Green has been running for over 150 years now and is described as a wonderful festival of fun. Thrill-seekers will find a variety of white knuckle rides as well as family-friendly rides including a picturesque carousel, a wonderful giant wheel with beautiful views of Hampton Court Palace, and a range of traditional games and stalls. The enchanting fair is open from 29 March to 2 April and visitors who buy £2 wristbands can enjoy all rides for half price, with all proceeds from the wristbands going to the Historic Royal Palaces charity.
